FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. What is a GSC?

A. This is a strictly not for profit event, created for the enjoyment of game show lovers. The Game Show Convention concept is nearly a decade old. Fans of television game shows from around the U.S.A. and Canada get together to play game shows, watch game shows and discuss game shows. Occassionally, game show personalities call in to the conventions, or pay a personal visit. Lots of fun and plenty of laughs coincide with great game show memories that can last a lifetime.

Q. When and where will "X! The All New Game Show Conventon" take place?

A. The convention will be held in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18, 19, and 20. There will be a Bonus Sunday on the 21st, where Tom Hornikel will be hosting a Biblical version of THE JOKER'S WILD, called THE ANGEL'S WILD.

Q. Who can attend?

A. Well, you must have a certain genetic defect to wish to attend. (Just kidding) The convention is open to all ages, races and sexes. All we ask is that the attendees be respectful of age, race, gender and beliefs. This is a non-alcoholic/smoking enviornment. It is an event that is open to family involvement, just like game shows are meant to be.

Q. Does this mean that anyone can attend?

A. With a basic qualifier, yes. Attendees must be at least 18 years of age to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by either a parent or guardian at all times in GSC events. The organizers of the GSC hold absolutely no legal responsibility to the welfare of the attendees. Organizing and hosting of this convention is strictly voluntary, and is entirely for the entertainment of those who wish to attend. Parents, and/or family members of younger adults are welcome to accompany the attendee.

Q. How about excessive behavior, fighting, etc.?

A. We are all friends. That's what this is supposed to be. All infighting from ATGS, etc. should be left at the door. This is an event that is organized to promote the furtherment of game shows in the media. Personal attacks, beligerence, and disorderly behavior will not be tolerated. Leave your personal agendas at home. The whole idea of game shows is to have good clean FUN!

Q. Which game shows will be played at this GSC?

A. HOT POTATO, THE WEAKEST LINK, and a TOM KENNEDY GAME SHOW MARATHON. The Tom Kennedy event will include some or all of the following: SPLIT SECOND, THE 50 GRAND SLAM, BREAK THE BANK, BODY LANGUAGE, NAME THAT TUNE, THE PRICE IS RIGHT, YOU DON'T SAY and WORDPLAY. More games may be included, as the circumstances dictate, including Bonus Sunday.

Q. You mentioned "celebrities"?

A. If all goes as planned, some game show personalities may be paying us personal visits via phone or real live. At GSC9, we played WHAT'S MY LINE's mystery guest game. The attendees tried to guess who the celebrity phone in guest, after asking a series of questions. Once the celebrity's identity was revealed, we had an open forum with that celebrity guest. In past years, celebrities have included Art James, Jim Peck, Jack Narz, Mary Lou Basaraba, Herbert Stempel, Kevin Belinkoff, Les Roberts, Jay Wolpert, Bob Hilton, and way too many to mention.

Q. What will it cost?

A. You are responsible for your transportation costs, hotel accomodations, meal costs, and shared expenses. Shared expenses include the meeting room, and that cost will be held to a minimum.

Q. What about the hotel?

A. Once we have a general "Head count", we will negotiate with Greater Cleveland hotels for room rates and expenses. You can share a room with a friend or family member. If you wish to defray travel costs, we can help you arrange for sharing room costs with a room mate.

I hope to see you here in CTown!
